Waste in the East Midlands

The East Midlands Development Agency, East Midlands Regional Assesmbly and Government Office East Midlands are working on an approach towards transforming the way we think of and deal with waste.

Our vision is to work towards becoming a zero waste region by 2020.  Last year we reviewed our existing priorities and action plan for the waste in the East Midlands and believe there is real potential to move towards an approach based on treating waste as a resource rather than a problem.

Before we can develop an action plan we need more information about all types of waste in the East Midlands, and hope that you will be able to work with us to fill in the gaps in taking the new approach forward to the next stage.

We would very much welcome your views on the general approach, principles and priorities we are suggesting, which are outlined in the consultation document, and any other ideas you have about the best way forward.
